If we agree with the words of the prophet Yshayahu (8:20) which states: “To the Torah and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” Then one should realize that the “works” of baptism, casting out demons and other such works and signs done in the earthly name of Messiah or in any other name EXCEPT in the Name of “YaHUaH” ( יהוה ) is prohibited according to the faith which was once delivered to the set apart people! Because it is written in the Torah: “But the prophet who presumes to speak a word IN MY NAME ( יהוה ), which I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks IN THE NAME OF OTHER ALaHYM’s, [ anything other than YaHUaH ] even that prophet shall die.’Deuteronomy 18: 20 Don’t forget that the prophet SamuAL was refered to as an ALaHYM (1 SamuEL 28: 13-14) and in Exodus 7: 1 YaHUaH made M’ShaH “an ALaHYM to Pharaoh”. The Pharisees wanted to stone Messiah because “’You being a man make yourself ALaHYM.’ YaHUShA answered them, ‘Is it not written in your Torah, ‘I [ referring to YaHUaH ] said, ‘You are ALaHYM,” … and all of you are sons of the most high’” citing Psalms 82:6 in YaHchanan 10: 34. So according to Deuteronomy 18:20, one is not allowed to speak in the name of another ALaHYM, period! This AS A MATTER OF FACT is how we prove YaHUShA of Nasereth’s authenticity! He did not as so many self proclaimed Messiah’s do these wonderful works in his own name; instead he said, “I told you and you believe not, the works that I do IN MY FATHER’S NAME, THEY bear witness of me.” YaHchanan (John) 10:25 “THEY” bear witness to the fact that he was indeed the prophet that was promised through M’ShaH that would come! “THEY” bear witness to the fact that he was indeed speaking in perfect harmony to what is written in the Torah and the Testimony! As it was written: “I [ YaHUaH ] shall raise up for them a prophet like you [ M’ShaH ] out of the midst of their brothers. AND I SHALL PUT MY [ YaHUaH’s ] WORDS in His [ YaHUShA’s ] mouth, and He shall speak to them ALL THAT I COMMAND HIM. And it shall be, the man who does not listen to MY WORDS which He [ YaHUShA ] speaks IN MY NAME, ( יהוה ) I require it of him.”Deuteronomy 18:18-19 Many people like to believe that YaHUShA did give them authority to do the “works” of baptism, casting out demons and other such works and signs in His earthly name, as if Messiah will speak contrary to the Torah and the Testimony! Yshayahu (8:20) forewarned us and said: “To the Torah and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” They cling to a particular scripture in defense of their opinion without thoroughly look at its context. They’ll quote YaHchanan 16: 23 which states, “Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father IN MY NAME He shall give you. UNTIL NOW YOU HAVE ASK NAUGHT IN MY NAME. Ask, and you shall receive, in order that your joy might be complete.” Therefore, in the minds of Christians and Messianic’s alike, this statement of “IN MY NAME” proves that all one needs to do is ask the father by evoking the name “Jesus Christ” and to Messianic’s by evoking the actual name that was given unto Maryām to call Him “YaHUShA” ( יהושע ) and ANYTHING can be received, the works of baptism, the casting out demons and other such works and signs. What generally is ignored in the above cited verse from YaHchanan is the very next statement which reads; “THESE WORDS I have spoken to you in FIGURE OF SPEECH, but an hour is coming when I shall no longer speak to you in FIGURE OF SPEECH, BUT I SHALL DECLARE [whom?] THE FATHER PLAINLY TO YOU IN THAT DAY YOU SHALL ASK [what?] IN MY NAME,…” Clearly there are those who just cannot grasp the message in “FIGURE OF SPEECH” nor do they realize that Messiah spoke nothing UNLESS it was in a parable. (Mattiyahu 13:34) This was a teaching meant to be understood “in figure of speech”. The question must stand, “what did YaHUShA mean when He figurely said, ‘IN MY NAME’”? The answer to this question is known by those closely following the doctrines of Scripture: both the Father and the Son are known by the same Name. Mishle (Proverbs) 30: 4 This style of rhetoric, where the use of one name of a person (i.e. title, generic name, nick name, or other personal name) to refer to another name belonging to the same person, is called “metonymy.” For example one might speak “in the name of the king” or sign a contract “in Duke’s name,” but the names referred to are neither “king” nor “Duke”. The king’s name may be Richard the Third and the intended name of Duke may be “John Wayne.” Once it has been taken in account that YaHUShA was one of the two beings named YaHUaH this metonymy is easily recognized. Even when Messiah prayed to the Father ( YaHchanan 17:11,12 ) he said, “guard them IN YOUR NAME WHICH YOU HAVE GIVEN ME” He and the father has ONE and the same Name! At the same time YaHUShA Himself asserts this metonymic meaning when He states that He came “in the Name of the Father”.YaHchanan 5: 43 He also revealed the Name of the Father to His disciples ( YaHchanan 17:6 ) and it was only from that day when he “declared the Father plainly to them” as he said he would, “BUT I SHALL DECLARE [whom?] THE FATHER PLAINLY TO YOU IN THAT DAY YOU SHALL ASK [what?] IN MY NAME,…” i.e. only after He revealed His Name to them, that they truly could ask “in-His-name.” Many people to this day are gathering regularly to sing and pray to Jesus Christ, a name that only came about in the middle to late 1400’s; consider Galatiyim (Galatians) 1:8 not to mention that YaHUShA ( יהושע ) of Nasereth never told anyone to sing or pray to himself; only to the Father. And yet a lot of people think they are doing a great service for the Kingdom, “IN THY NAME” by evoking another and/or foreign ALaHYM which is clearly prohibited according to Deuteronomy 18:20. The hard fact of the matter is: “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord Lord’ shall enter into the reign of the heavens, but he who is doing the DESIRE of My Father in the heavens,” one “desire” being “in all that I have said to you, TAKE HEED. And make no mention of the name of other mighty ones, let it not be heard from your mouth!”Exodus 23: 13 because “many shall say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophecied IN THY NAME, and cast out demons IN THY NAME, and done many mighty works IN THY NAME? And then I shall declare to them, I never knew you, depart from Me, you who work lawlessness!”Mattiyahu 7: 22 Because the law specifically states that “I am YaHUaH your ALaHYM”As it is Written in Exodus 20:2; then check your STRONGS concordance before you try and justify your transliteration error! not “Lord”, “God” or “Jesus” or even YaHUShA will suffice! They think they do all these wonderful works “IN THY NAME” but in retrospect, they are doing it in a name of other mighty ones! The fact that they are and / or were doing wonderful works is not in dispute, what is in dispute is the fact that they are NOT doing the desire of the father.
His earthly nameS (notice the plural) was MERELY PROPHETIC in nature. He appeared unto M’ShaH as the Malak (messenger) Micha’AL. The “mi cha” part means “who IS” and “AL” is a poetic short form for “ALaHYM” (“Strong Authority”) therefore Micha’AL in many instances are taken for a question: “WHO is AL?” but in this particular reference I believe it is used as a STATEMENT; stating or pointing to the Melak (messenger) YaHUShA “who IS ALaHYM”! When this messenger was raised up, he was given two names for a very specific reason. The one being ImmanuAL meaning “AL with us” or rather “ALaHYM with us” and to Maryām it was said to call Him YaHUShA ( יהושע ) having two parts, “YaHU” a direct connotation to the Name of the Father and “ShA” meaning deliverance. “YaHUaH” ( יהוה ) is the ONLY Name whereby one can find “deliverance” Ma’asei (Acts) 2: 21; Romiyim (Romans) 10: 13 and the only Name in the entirety of the scriptures said to be sacred. At no time is it even suggested that the earthly name of Messiah called “YaHUShA” or “ImmanuAL” is of this everlasting, eternal or “Sacred” character. For example see, Tehillim (Psalms) 33:21; 103:1; 105:3; 106:47; 145:21; Luqas 1:49; 11:2 In the Psalms for example we read, “They shall thank your great and fearful name, it is sacred.”Tehillim 99:3; 111:9 YShAYaHU refers to YaHUaH as “the high and lofty one who inhabits eternity, and His name is sacred.Yeshayahu 57:15 When the Messiah taught His disciples to pray, the opening line acknowledges, “Our FATHER who is in heaven, sacred be YOUR name”. Neither is this merely an opinion of men, YaHUaH Himself refers to it as, “My sacred name”Leveticus 22: 2 & 32; YezeqEL 20:39; 36:21 & 22; 39:7 & 25; 43:7-8; Amos 2:7 But upon YaHUShA’s resurrection he has obtained the “Sacred Name” as His permanent INHERITANCE! Scripture confirms this by stating:
“Who (referring to YaHUShA) being the brightness of His ( Father’s ) glory, and upholding all things by the Word ( singular ) of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high: Being made so much better than the messengers, as He has by INHERITANCE OBTAINED A MORE EXCELLENT NAME than they”Ibrim ( Hebrews ) 1:3-4 Many people regard the “earthly name” of Messiah as his “inherited Name” but note Messiah’s own words when He said; “He who overcomes, I shall make him a supporting post in the Dwelling Place of MY ALaHYM and he shall by no means go out. And I ( YaHUShA ) shall write on him THE NAME OF MY ALaHYM and THE NAME OF THE CITY OF MY ALaHYM, the renewed Yerushalayim, which comes down out of the heaven from MY ALaHYM, AND MY RENEWED NAME.”Hazon ( Revelations ) 3: 12-13 It is important to note that YaHUShA’s Father, ( HIS ALaHYM YaHUaH as stated in the above verse ) has never been called YaHUShA and DaniAL 9:18 and 19 confirms even further that the “City of my ALaHYM” is called YaHUaH ( יהוה )! And that is the RENEWED NAME OF MESSIAH – HIS PERMANENT INHERITANCE! Even when Messiah prayed to the Father he said, “guard them IN YOUR NAME WHICH YOU HAVE GIVEN ME”!YaHchanan 17:11,12 There is only ONE Name above all other Names! The body of Messiah is unified under ONE Name, NOT divided into parts! In Ephesians 3: 13-15 for example, Shaul states: “I pray therefore, that you do not lose heart at my pressures on your behalf, which is your esteem. For this reason I bow my knees TO THE FATHER YaHUaH ( יהוה ) of our Master YaHUShA ( יהושע ) Messiah, from whom the whole family of the heavens and earth IS NAMED.” Sha’ul is only quoting Deuteronomy 28: 10 where YaHUaH says that the peoples of the earth will know that all YShRAL is “called by the Name of YaHUaH.” and 2 Chronicles 7: 13-14 also states, “…My people who are called by my Name…” The single body of Messiah has but ONE Name shared by the Father the Son and the Set Apart Spirit. Even Ya’aqob stated: “Men, brothers, LISTEN TO ME: Shim’on has declared how ALaHYM YaHUaH first visited the nations to take out of them a people FOR HIS NAME. And the words of the prophets agree with this, as it has been written: ‘After this I shall return and rebuild the booth of Dawid which has fallen down. And I shall rebuild its ruins, and I shall set it up, so that the remnant of mankind shall seek YaHUaH, even all nations ON WHOM MY NAME HAS BEEN CALLED , says YaHUaH who is doing all this, who has made this known from old.”Ma’asei (Acts) 15: 13-18 This is even further confirmed when one looks at the instructions that were given by YaHUShA after His resurrection to all the disciples that were in attendance. They were told to immerse people “into the NAME (singular) of the Father and the Son, and the sacred Spirit.”Mattithyahu 28: 19-20 In Proverbs 30: 4 for example, a brilliant mind gave us a riddle: “who has gone up to the heavens and come down? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has bound the waters in a garment? Who established all the ends of the earth? WHAT IS HIS NAME? AND WHAT IS HIS SON’S NAME, if you know?” Both of them are known by the same Name! Many would immediately try to “prove” from Philippians 2: 9-10 that YaHUShA is that very name without a thorough investigation or evaluation of the Scriptures (The Torah, the Prophets, and the Writings). Philippians 2: 9-10 states, “ALaHYM, therefore has highly exalted Him [referring to YaHUShA] and given Him [referring to YaHUShA] THE NAME [SINGULAR] which is above every name, that at the name of YaHUShA every knee should bow, of those in heaven and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and every tongue should confess that YaHUShA Messiah is Master TO THE ESTEEM OF ALaHYM THE FATHER.” i.e. YaHUShA has inherited the name of His Father, “which is above every name” in harmony with Tehillim (Psalms) 138: 2 and 8:1, THEREFORE “to the esteem of ALaHYM the Father.” The words in Philippians can only take on full meaning when they are compared to the rest of the Scriptures (The Torah, the Prophets, and the Writings) because no single scripture is of any private interpretation (i.e. your own opinion, implied from Kepha Bet [2 Peter] 1:20) and Scripture must always be compared to Scripture (Corinthians 2:13) and because of this, the Word stands in its own defense when it says that two or three witnesses establish a matter (Deut. 19: 15). Therefore, we can only conclude that the words of Sha’ul in Philippians is merely based upon Yeshayahu 45: 23-25 (a direct paraphrase); “I [referring to YaHUaH] have sworn by Myself, a word [singular] has gone out of My mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, SO THAT EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW, EVERY TONGUE SWEAR. One shall say, ‘ONLY IN YaHUaH do I have righteousness and strength’ – he comes to Him [referring to YaHUaH]. And all those displeased with Him [YaHUaH] shall be put to shame. In (((YaHUaH))) all the seed of YShRAL shall be declared right and boast” When he spoke of “My Name”, or when his disciples referred to doing something like baptism or something else “in the Name of YaHUShA” it is a reference to His “Sacred Name”! This should answer the question on how should “at the name of YaHUShA” be interpreted? Those who long for the RETURN of our Savior will soon need to realize that Messiah said, we WILL NOT see Him again UNTIL we say, “Baruch haba b’shem YaHUaH”! Tehillim (Psalm) 118: 26 & Mattityahu 23:39 / Luke 13:35 It means, “BLESSED IS HE (YaHUShA) WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF YaHUaH.” Which is why Scripture even confirms it by saying, “Near is the great day of (((YAHUAH,))) [Not YaHUShA] near and hurrying greatly, the noise of the day of (((YAHUAH.)))” Tsephanyah (Zephaniah) 1:14, 15. He will not return as YaHUShA (his earthly name) but with His inherited Name YaHUaH!
